I ve read never to plant roses under roof eaves but since i have successfully grown another rose climber near sally holmes and it s been there over 10 years i knew it would be okay. It was created from stock parents rosa ivory fashion and rosa ballerina.

Sally holmes has won numerous awards including the portland gold medal in 1993 and induction into the rose hall of fame as world s favourite rose in 2012. Sally holmes has proven to be one of the most outstanding shrub roses. Holmes who introduced her in the uk in 1976.

The large blossoms 3 5 in. Large almost single creamy white flowers held in large bunches. Sally holmes is fabulous.

She is a cross between ballerina and ivory fashion. The result is a cream colored rose that averages about 3 5 inches in diameter and often has ever so subtle pink highlights on the petals. Across 9 cm open their ruffled petals to reveal their golden stamens.

Our own root roses are grown from cuttings so the roots are the same variety as the flowers unlike our bare root. A free flowering rose that is nearly always in bloom. Planted on south wall just under our roof eaves and it s growing beautifully in its first year.
